Seattle Business Magazine Grants Bruker Honorable Mention for the 2011 Washington Manufacturing Award
May 26, 2011 — Seattle Business Magazine grants Bruker Honorable Mention for the 2011 Washington Manufacturing Award. Based in Kennewick, Washington, Bruker manufactures portable X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analytical instrumentation. XRF is the quickest, safest, and completely nondestructive method for evaluating the chemical composition of a material. Bruker’s handheld XRF instruments can detect a broad range of elements, from Mg to U. Applications vary from scrap metal identification to teaching and research to art and archaeometry.
The annual Washington Manufacturing Award recognizes and celebrates companies that help maintain an exciting manufacturing community in Washington State. Among the dozens of nominations, only four businesses became finalists in the midsized company category. Seattle Business Magazine announced the winners and Honorable Mention (second place) at The Westin, downtown Seattle, during their annual awards ceremony. Bruker Vice President and Managing Director John Landefeld stated that the award recognized Bruker “as a leader in the manufacturing community,” crediting the company’s worldwide success to an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset maintained throughout its recent growth. Landefeld continued, noting that Bruker ’s operational excellence has enabled the company to reach great heights, enthusiastically embracing progressive manufacturing principles like Six Sigma and Lean.
